Six Flags Over Georgia Debuts Massive Hurricane Harbor Water Park

The eye of a massive storm is making landfall in Atlanta, as Six Flags Over Georgia announces the opening of its all-new water park, Hurricane Harbor, on May 30, 2014. Hurricane Harbor, the largest expansion in the park’s 47-year history, boasts four new water attractions, including the world’s first hybrid zero-gravity slide, spans seven acres and is free with admission to Six Flags Over Georgia.

“Hurricane Harbor is unlike any other water park in the region, and will quickly become a must-visit destination for all of Atlanta and the southeast region,” said park president Dale Kaetzel. “Our enormous water park will create a ‘getaway atmosphere’, as guests are able to cool off on several one-of-a-kind water attractions and then take flight on one of our 11 world-class roller coasters, all in the same day. We expect Hurricane Harbor to have a significant economic impact to the community as it draws thousands of guests from near and far, which should positively impact future development in the area.”Hurricane Harbor’s world-class attractions include:

  • The world’s first hybrid zero-gravity slide, Tsunami Surge, will send thrill-seekers down five stories to the splash pool waiting below. It all starts with a drop through an enclosed tube into a whirlpool bowl with 360 degree curves and then out into a massive wave wall, for a moment of zero gravity, or weightlessness;
  • The 38,000 square foot wave pool, Calypso Bay, featuring two massive wave generators that will create four foot waves in eight different wave patterns to mimic the high surf of the ocean;
  • Three unique water slides sit atop a 41 foot tower at Bonzai Pipelines that will send guests barreling down through 180- and 360-degree curves;
  • And a children’s water playground, Paradise Island, encompassing an entire acre of Hurricane Harbor with six water slides, multiple water buckets dumping about 2,000 gallons of water and hundreds of interactive water elements such as water blasters, sprayers, fountains, water wheels and pumps.

Hurricane Harbor also features 11 relaxing cabanas with reserved seating and food service, a beach-themed restaurant with window service, several retail locations, bathhouses, locker rentals, tube rentals and lounging chairs to sit back and enjoy the summer sun.

Six Flags Over Georgia is now open daily through August 10. Season Passes provide unlimited visits for the entire 2014 season and can be purchased online for a low monthly payment through the annual membership program.
