William Land Park – Sacramento, California

William Land Park, frequently referred to as simply “Land Park” is a major city park in Sacramento, California. The park is located between Interstate 5 and State Route 160.

There are several city attractions located within the park including:

  • The Sacramento Zoo
  • Fairytale Town, a park which has play equipment designed to represent articles from various fairy tales and nursery rhymes (there is a small admission fee).
  • The William Land Golf Course
  • Funderland, a small amusement park with several carnival like rides including a roller coaster, a steam train, carousel and other rides, primarily for very young children. Other rides include Airplanes, Back Road Buggys, Log Flume and Teacups. The park is ideal for toddlers aged 2 to older kids up to age 12. The parks sits on 2 acres of land and has been giving thrills to small children for more than 50 years. Originally, the park began as Land Park Kiddie Land in the 1940s. A new owner bought the park in 1984 and renovated it into the new Funderland Park.
  • Vic’s Ice Cream – landmark restaurant in the neighborhood.

The park is open from February to April and September to November: noon to 5 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. May to Labor Day: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays to Fridays; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Admission to the park is free. Rides are very reasonably priced.
