Hidden Valley RV Park – Del Rio, TX
We were looking for a warm winter get-away, and decided to check out Hidden Valley RV Park in Del Rio Texas. I am so glad we did! We arrived in October to tee shirt and shorts weather, and it stayed that way all through the winter months!
Hidden Valley RV Park caters to the 55+ retired crowd, and that is just fine with us. Large, spacious lots, 30 – 50 feet wide by 60 – 100 feet deep, lots of trees and a Large Lounge at “The Wash”, which also has a large laundry facility. There are no public restrooms or public showers on site, so you must be self-contained.
When we first arrived, the owner met us at Walmart and led us to the park. We loved the site we picked and decided to stay a month. Rate was $325.00 plus 12 cents electric per month, and we could pay with cash or check. After just a week, we decided to stay through the entire winter months!
The park is located on the south side of Del Rio at the end of a dead end street. A herd of deer graze in the meadow next door. It is quiet and peaceful; no road noise! There is a nice museum nearby, as well as a winery, and a small HEB neighborhood store which can be easily biked to. On the main road in Del Rio – US 90 (Veteran’s Boulevard) there is a Walmart, Home Depot, a large HEB, a Mall, and just about everything one needs, including lots of restaurants!
I was a bit concerned about being this close to the border, but it seems Del Rio and the Mexico city of Acuna have a great relationship. The International Bridge between the two cities bring workers from both towns back and forth, and residents of both are happy. We never heard of any “incidents”, or issues during our stay. We felt perfectly secure.
Activities, Markets, and Festivals take place all through the year, and I was surprised at how much art culture is here. First Friday Art Walks, Cooking and Gardening Classes, Craft Markets, Movie Nights, a live Theatre group, and Lake Amistad all provide lots to do while staying in Del Rio.
We loved both Hidden Valley RV Park and the City of Del Rio! We plan to return next winter and stay here again.
