The Orlando planning board recently approved a plan to build the $400 million iSquare Mall + Hotel project, with groundbreaking set for January 2016.

The mixed-use project will be built at the corner of International Drive and Kirkman Road, where the International Shoppes strip mall is currently located. The project will totally transform the look of this portion of International Drive and will no doubt spur more development in the vicinity.

The proposed mega-project includes Solis Orlando, a two-tower 539-room hotel with a 24 hour revolving restaurant, and a smaller ultra-luxury 100 room Capella Suites. Rooftop guest pools are positioned in the sky and have an impressive view of all the neighboring attractions. The approved plan also includes a four-story shopping mall, restaurants, a seven story parking garage, rooftop observation deck, and a 400-foot-tall helipad.

The project is scheduled to open in late fall of 2017.
