Sun-N-Fun RV Resort and Campground – Sarasota, Florida
We have stayed at Sun-N-Fun RV Resort 4 or 5 times before and always saw campers with their boats parked on their sites.
I made my reservations 2 months in advance and was explicit about needing a site that would accommodate my boat. The lady who took my reservation and charged my credit card said she would make sure I got a 60′ site that would have the room to park my boat. We checked in on the day designated and the next morning I drove back 180 miles to the Marina where I keep my boat and loaded it on the trailer and drove the 180 miles back to Sun-N-Fun. The next day we went off shore fishing and returned to the campground about 4PM. With in 1 hour of pulling our boat in someone from the office knocked on our door to ask us to park the boat at the parking lot (unsecured). I was told that anyone staying over 1 week had to park their boat there. I told him I had specifically reserved a site for my boat and RV. That didn’t matter they had received a complaint. He said he would send “Linda” the park supervisor. 2 days later the head of security showed up at my site to say that boats weren’t allowed this time of year on the sites (March). I told her I wasn’t moving my boat out of my sight. She called “Linda’ and she and “Jan” showed up 10 minutes later to tell me they would call the sheriff and have me forcibly evicted. I would have 1 hour to pack up and leave or they would do it for me. We decided to leave without the sheriffs help and told them they had breached our contract and would be getting a summons the court. There is no regulation for parking boats in Fun N Sun’s park rules. They were making things up as they went.
By the way, don’t be mislead by the Wi-Fi hot spots shown on the park map, none of them work. You have to go up to the computer room to get on line. My recommendation is to stay away from Sun-N-Fun!
