Hide-A-Way Lakes is a really cool campground/recreation park. It is located on the Fox River on 150 acres of woods and ponds and creeks. You can really get back to nature here.
We went biking, hiking and fishing, and I know we haven’t seen everything this place has to offer. We’re tent campers. We fished and grilled our catch of the day. No fishing license was require in the park (way cool)! We are planning another weekend here. It’s not far outside of Chicago where we live, but we felt like we were vacationing in another state. If you want a great reasonably priced get away for you and the kids, this is that place. If the weather ever gets better this year, we plan on doing the rafting trip on the Fox River. According to the very friendly staff, it takes 45 minutes to float from one side of the park to their boat launch on the river. It’s $5 per person for rafts, or you can bring your own. We can’t wait for the kids to experience this.
This place is a treasure if you want to get away from the grind of city life!
